Welcome to the 2023 Season at Crete’s Top Historic Hotel- The Hotel Doma of Chania

On 12 April, my favorite historic hotel in Crete will re-open for its 50th season, as I recently wrote on my Substack newsletter here.

This friendly and fashionable sea-front hotel, which began life in the late 19th century as the consulate of Austro-Hungary, and later was the British Consulate until the early 1950’s, has stayed in the same family for all that time and is impeccably designed with period decor. It serves a wonderful seasonal breakfast and is situated right above Chania’s Venetian old harbor in the Halepa district.

The article comes with a number of captivating photographs of the hotel and its surroundings to really give readers a sense of what they can expect when visiting the area, as well as a short list of the best places to visit in western Crete while vacationing there.
